Overview project
Opdracht
Vanuit Magazijn076 kwam het project om een koffiebakfiets op de markt te brengen om op die manier mensen een kans te geven om op hun tempo de horeca in te gaan. Ongefilterd serveert koffie met een verhaal. Aan mij was gevraagd de hele branding op me te nemen; logo, huisstijl, illustraties en bestickering bakfiets.
Uitdagingen
De uitdaging bij dit project zat hem ondermeer in de vele partijen die betrokken waren bij dit project. Communicatie en samen overeenkomen tot een beslissing waarin ieder zich kan vinden was zeer belangrijk bij dit project. Daarnaast liepen de ontwerpfase van de branding ongeveer gelijk aan de bouwfase van de bakfiets. Hierdoor was het deels nog een verrassing hoe alles er precies uit ging zien. Hier moest dus rekening mee gehouden worden tijdens het ontwerpen van de opdruk van de bakfiets.
Doelen
- Ontwikkelen van herkenbaar identities pakket passend bij de gedachten achter de koffiefiets.
- Herkenbaar en modern logo en typeface.
- Illustratie pakket.
- Ontwerpen opdruk op de bakfiets comprimerend aan de bakfiets en component die al aanwezig zijn op de bakfiets .
Unieke oplossingen
Ik denk dat de uniek oplossing in dit project zit in samenwerking van het logo en het illustratie pakket. Er zit in beide een samenvoeging van grafische en illustratieve elementen.

Overview project
Brief
Magazijn076 came up with a project to get a cargo bicycle that service coffee that gives people the change to learn and get into catering at their own pace. Ongefilterd (which roughly translates to not filtered) serves coffee with a story. They came to me for the branding; logo, identity, illustration and layout bicycle.
Challenges
One of the challenges within this project where the many groups involved with it. Communication and coming to a decision we could all agree on was key to this project. Furthermore the timestamp of the designfase of the branding and the buildfase of the bicycle were around the same time which meant that we didn’t completely knew what the end result of the buildfase would look like. This was something I needed to take in account while design the overprint for on the bicycle.
Goals
- Developing a recognizable identity pack suited to the idea behind the coffee bicycle.
- Recognizable and modern logo and typeface.
- Custom illustration pack.
- Design overprint on the bicycle complements the bicycle and the components already on the bicycle.
Unique solution
I think that the unique solution within this project is in the collaboration with the logo and illustration pack. There’re in both elements from graphic work and illustration which makes them work well together.

Logo
Tijdens de ontwerpfase van het logo voor deze koffiebakfiets kwam al snel het idee om in een simpel logo zowel een element van koffie en een fiets in elkaar te verwerken. Er is voor gekozen het logo zo strak mogelijk te houden om te passen bij de rest van de fiets.

During the design fase of this coffee cargo bike the idea for a simple logo with an element of coffee and a bike mashed together came quite quickly. I choose to keep the logo clean and modern so it would suit well with the rest of the bike.
Illustratie
Vanuit een paar partijen was de wens uitgesproken om te kijken naar de mogelijkheid van een costum illustratie pakket voor op de bakfiets. Na wat uitproberen kwam de conclusie dat een redelijk strak ontwerp moest zijn aangezien er al veel gebeurd op en rond de fiets. Daarnaast wilde we een illustratie die paste bij het concept van dit project.

Illustration
A few parties involved with this project had the wish to look if it was possible the make a custom illustration pack for this bicycle. After a little bit of testing came the conclusion that the design needed to be clean because of all the things happening on and around the bicycle. In addition we wanted an illustration that fitted the concept of this project
Layout bakfiets
Voor het ontwerpen van de bestickering van de bakfiets moest eerst gekozen worden welke vlakken wel een design zouden krijgen en welke niet. Hierbij werd rekening gehouden met de accessoires die al op de bakfiets zaten zoals koplampen, koelkast en frame van het dak. De bakfiets bestaat uit twee “bakken”. De grootste zit voorop waar ook een dak boven zit en waar de barista staat en de klant koffie kan bestellen. De kleinere zit achterop en is vooral bedoelt om nog wat spullen in op te slaan. Omdat de bakfiets al redelijk wat element had en we voor een moderne look wilde gaan was het van belang dat de bestickering hier goed bij aansloot.

Layout cargo bicycle
Before we started designing the stickers for the bicycle we needed to decide which planes would get a design and which didn’t. Hereby taking in account of the accessories that were already on the bicycle like headlights, fridge and frame on the roof. The bike consist of two “boxes”. The biggest one is on the front with a roof over it and it’s the side where the barista works and the client orders their coffee. The smaller box is at the back and is meanly destined for storing stuff. Because the bike has already a fair amount of elements on it and our vision was a modern look it was of interest to make sure that the stickers would collide well.
Eindresultaat bakfiets
Uiteindelijk is bakfiets gebouwd en bestickerd en sinds kort wordt hij gebruikt om mensen te trainen om voor barista. Wanneer dit traject een tijdje loopt gaat men de hort op met deze bakfiets om op verschillende plekken de koffie te serveren. Erg leuk.
Voor nu mist het dak vanwege een foutje.

End result cargo bicycle
Eventually the cargo bike was build en got the design printed on it and since a few weeks people started using it to train to become a barista. When people have become more familiar with making and serving coffee they’ll go to different places with this bike to serve coffee. So fun.
For now the roof is missing because of a little mistake.
